July-August 2012 - All Legislators receive a questionnaire from the NRA asking whether we support or oppose Universal Background Checks. Mike Hope answers he opposes.

January 21-25 - Rep. Pedersen is seen lobbying Mike Hope to sign on to Universal Background check bill. Rep. Matt Shea alerts NRA West Coast Liaison of potential bill.

January 24 - Reps. Taylor, Overstreet, Shea, and others introduce HB 1371 Firearms Freedom Act http://apps.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/summary.aspx?bill=1371&year=2013.

January 28-30 - Republican members try to talk Rep. Hope out of his sponsorship. Entire House Republican Caucus is warned about even considering signing onto gun control bills.

2:00 p.m. March 12 - House Republicans remain steadfast on all amendments, Democrats Blake and Takko fight to defeat on their side.

8:00 p.m., March 12 - Democrats acknowledge impasse and send everyone home.

5:00 p.m. March 13 - HB 1588 is declared "dead."
